Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC)

The Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC or ICC) is an interagency group for early childhood matters in our three county area—Cheboygan, Otsego, and Presque Isle Counties. The ICC is made up of parents, service providers, and representatives from organizations involved with young children from birth to kindergarten entry, and their families.It links regularly with the Collaborative Bodies in each of our counties. ICC meetings are a setting for many groups working with young children to compare information, share plans and concerns, and work together on collaborative activities. Parents are very welcome to visit, and we are always looking for parents who would like to be ongoing ICC members.

The ICC serves as an advisory council to numerous groups, including:

  • Early On in Cheboygan, Otsego, and Presque Isle Counties (COP-ESD)
  • Tapestry Project (at COP-ESD)
  • Head Start (Health Advisory)
  • Early Head Start
  • Onaway Michigan School Readiness Program (MSRP) Early Childhood Education.
  • Johannesburg Lewiston Michigan School Readiness Program (MSRP)
  • Great Start and Great Parents Great Start Cheboygan Otsego Presque Isle (at COPESD).

Other participants in the Council include COP ESD preschool team and Special Education, Public Health Departments, MSU Extension offices, Michigan Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C), Community Mental Health offices, Hospitals and doctors, Departments of Human Services (former Family Independence Agency), elementary schools, preschools, counseling agencies, Inter-tribal council, local chapter of Michigan Association for Education of Young Children (MiAEYC), North Central Michigan College's Early Childhood department, and others. Further participants and representative of other groups are welcome.

Since the mid-1990's the Early Childhood ICC has served as advisory body to other grants and projects including a regional ASAP PIE grant, Children's Trust fund 0-3 grants, served as a "Great Start Community Conversation", facilitated Ready to Succeed, advised COP's regional Early Childhood conferences and workshops, and assisted with other interagency projects and proposals.
