That's a wrap!
Another successful summer of CTE Camps and Academies!

As summer winds down, it’s time to share some of the many accomplishments and experiences that students from across our region enjoyed this summer thanks to our CTE/vocational camps and academies.
For those who are unaware, the Cheboygan-Otsego-Presque Isle Educational Service District (COPESD) provides career and technical education experiences in a variety of fields for students in grades 7-12. Some of the areas of study this summer were First Aid & CPR, Robotics, Engineering, Public Safety, and Heavy Equipment Operation.
Attendees learned alongside local professionals and employers, received hands-on training, and also had the chance to give back to their communities. A shining example of this is the new picnic shelter donated to a park in Onaway after it was created by Building Trades, CNC Machining, and Welding trade academy students.
Two videos were created to provide more information about the camps and academies, and to share some of the stories and experiences that came out of this summer’s sessions.

The growth and progress of the CTE summer camps and academies are something to take pride in. Four years ago, students had access to three programs primarily supported by grant funds. This summer, the number of sessions grew to 49, and camp attendance has grown by more than 280% since 2021.
This progress would not be possible without the collaboration and support provided through the years by our many business and industry partners. Their dedication to providing local students with more CTE and vocational experiences is vital.
