Making Learning Visible: A Transformative Day with Dr. John Hattie and Mr. Tommy Thompson
On November 3rd, 2025, educators from across our region gathered for an exceptional day of professional learning with Dr. John Hattie and Mr. Tommy Thompson, two influential voices in education today.
Dr. Hattie, the world-renowned researcher and author of Visible Learning, shared insights from more than 1,400 meta-analyses representing the learning experiences of over 300 million students. This research identifies the strategies and influences with the greatest impact on student achievement. Building on this foundation, Mr. Thompson delivered a dynamic and engaging session that brought the science of learning to life.
Educators explored high-impact instructional practices, the power of clarity and feedback, the role of assessment-capable learners, and the importance of collective efficacy in transforming classroom experiences. Participants left with practical tools, a deeper understanding, and renewed energy to make learning visible for every student. This professional learning marks an important milestone in our region’s ongoing commitment to evidence-based teaching and meaningful student growth.
